Forget My Life: Sleep

Sleep Deprivation

Artist: Jazmyne Bledsoe

That one thing that you really need, but can never seem to get enough of at night.

Student: Maybe it’s because I have a schedule that works me to death. I do entirely too much in and out of school. Is having or participating in two sports, seven clubs, two volunteer positions, babysitting, an actual paying job, doing loads of homework everyday, and completing all my home responsibilities exhausting my small amount of energy I get from sleep?

Doctor: More than likely if time isn’t  being managed or used right.

Student: That does not make any sense, doc. Even when I don’t have one million and one things to do, I still cannot go to sleep at night.

Doctor: Do you stay up watching t.v?

Student: Of course I do, but what does that have to do with my sleep?

Doctor: Maybe if you stopped staying up late to watch your 90s cartoons, you could get more sleep.

Student: But I don’t even do that everyday…

Doctor: Then you should also stop texting, get off social media, and put your phone down, so you can go to sleep at night.

Student: This is still not making sense! I do not see why I am always so tired.

Doctor: *sighs* We’re going to be here for a while.

Student: If you would just tell me why I am getting very little sleep, then we would not be here for so long.
