Raptor Nasir Bailey is Ironman Champion
In arguably the most competitive high school wrestling tournament in the nation, Rich Township junior Nasir Bailey WON the 132lb title! The Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament took place this past weekend in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The tournament drew over 80 nationally ranked wrestlers and many of the nation’s toughest high school teams. Nasir dominated his opponents, from the first match to the last, over the course of the two day tournament.
In addition to winning the 132lb title, Nasir also won the coveted Mendoza Award, for scoring the most team points in the tournament. Coach Pell raved about Nasir, saying, “I’m beyond proud of how hard this young man has worked and the success that he has created. If you see him in the hallways please let him hear it and congratulate him.” Prior to this momentous win, Nasir was Illinois State Champion as a freshman at T.F. North, and Texas state champion out of Martin High School as a sophomore.
