In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Key Club hosted a balloon release during half time of the varsity football game on Friday the 14th.

Prior to the balloon release, Key Club President Asharri Powell and other club members worked hard to promote the event.   Tables were set up in the cafeteria and Key Club members visited study halls to promote the cause and sell balloons.  Each balloon could have a name of someone being honored.

Within three days of fundraising, the club raised $250, and almost all the proceeds will go directly to people who are currently fighting this horrible disease.

On the day of the game, board members of Key Club along with Principal Whitaker and Ms. Norwood made sure the event went off without a hitch.  Balloons were inflated and distributed to those who donated for release under the lights and into the night sky.

Moments before the balloon release, guest speaker Dr. Shaniqua Jones gave a few encouraging words and saluted everyone for their involvement while instructing the release of the balloons.

Key Club would like to thank you to everyone who participates and allowed us to turn this wonderful idea into reality.  A new tradition has begun here at Rich Central!
