In this spin-off from The Fast and Furious saga, the plot line focuses on Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) as they team up to save Shaw’s sister Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby.) They also save the world from an enhanced super soldier (Idris Elba) who threatens the fate of humanity, with a little romance in the mix.

In this movie, there is an unlikely team up between the two lead characters (Hobbs and Shaw), who are presumed to hate each other from years of fighting and an ongoing feud. Hattie Shaw, a KI6 field agent, is on a mission to capture and bring in a highly toxic serum that could harm humanity if it gets in the wrong hands. As the team is packing up to leave, a man (Idris Elba) appears out of thin air and starts to kill the members of KI6 team. Hattie, whose job was to bring in the serum, notices the man and does what nobody in history would do, she injects herself with the serum and clearly makes a getaway. The man that has been identified as Brixton Lorr comes up with a cover story saying that Hattie Shaw the KI6 agent has stolen the serum and taken out her entire team. While on the run and now as a wanted woman, Hattie has nowhere to turn. Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) while in London goes to visit his mother who is serving a four-year sentence to and catch up on her well-being. While talking to his mother, he learns about his sister who he hasn’t spoken to in several years. His mother persuades him to go and see her and to get to the bottom of what’s going on. Hobbes, who is taking time off to spend with his daughter, is approached by a former CIA agent who tells him about Hattie Shaw’s case.

Without knowing that both Hobbs and Shaw are working together, they both agree to take the case. Hattie, who has been hiding for the past three days, is found by Hobbs. They have a disagreement and captured by Hobbs. She is then taken back to the CIA base where Deckard Shaw is waiting. Once Hobbs, Deckard, and Hattie put the pieces together they agree that they are all looking for the same man and agree to team up and save the fate of humanity. During their trip to find Brixton Lorr, Hobbs and Hattie form a love connection that is later known to Deckard who does not like it. Hattie, Deckard, and Hobbs come up with a plan to take down Brixton; however, Hattie is kidnapped by him and is taken to the hideout of Brixton.

Once saved by Hobbs and Shaw the three are through a high-speed chase to get out. Now that Brixton is on the hunt for Hattie, Hobbs, and Deckard, they are on the run and they end up in the hometown of Hobbs home. As the movie ends, we are left with a couple of pinning questions: Do Hobbs and Hattie become a thing? Does Brixton find Deckard, Hobbs, and Hattie?

I would recommend this movie, but I would not recommend bringing young children. The movie is an all-around funny, exciting, and leave-you-on-the-edge-of-your seat feature. It was action- packed and contains lots of humor. The movie was 2 hours and 50 minutes long which isn’t long at all and is great for a family night out. The movie scored 67% on Rotten Tomatoes and cost about 200 million to make. In the box office it brought in 755.9 million, and the movie is currently rated PG-13, but again I would not bring young children due to inappropriate jokes and mildly harsh language. The release date was August 2, 2019.
