New Raptors Football Coach Announced
On Monday, May 8th, it was announced that Mr. Quincy Woods would be the new Head Football Coach starting for the 2023 season.
Coach Woods is no stranger to Rich 227. He graduated from Rich East where he played football for the Rockets. He went on to play at University of Southern California and then headed overseas to play in Germany. Once he returned home, he coached at Rich Central, Homewood Flossmoor and Crete-Monee.
Coach Woods has worked in the district for years both on the footfield and in the locker room, and is very recognizable around campus. Sophomore Keshaun Laird, who intends to play varsity football next year, stated, “We are really excited to have Coach Woods next year, he makes an effort to really get to know us as players and his goal is to help us play our best and get us to play in college.”
To welcome as the official head coach, the Athletic Department held a meet and greet for Coach Woods this past Wednesday, May 10th, at the FAC campus. There, players, parents and community members were able to ask questions and congratulate the new leader of the Raptors Football Team.
We can’t wait to see what this next chapter brings.
