Basketball is RCHS sophomore’s passion

Germirah Shavers looks to score big on the basketball court

Germirah Shavers is a sophmore JV and Varsity Girls Basketball player at Rich Central High School who loves her sport. She has a passion for it.

On why she turned to the game of basketball, Germirah said, “It’s one way one I express myself and it’s one thing I love to do.”

Her love of the game was influenced by her older brother, Germar’ee, and her favorite female player, Candace Parker.

Germirah also experiences a deep emotional connection to the game. She said, when asked to talk about how she feels while she plays,  “I feel the intensity, I feel free, and it makes me feel good.”

She practices intensely for three to five hours a day, and plans on eventually earning a scholarship to college through the sport of basketball.

Germirah also credits her family for supporting her in the sport.
