There were two seconds on the clock and RCHS was playing a basketball game against our rivals, Rich South High School. The freshmen were playing and they were tied. The game began again and Reis Calvin received the ball, shot it up, the buzzer went off, and Reis’ full-court shot went in!

“I didn’t practice buzzer beaters before the game,” Calvin said. “I’m not even sure how it happened it just happened!”

A buzzer-beater in basketball rarely happens anymore! It’s a shot taken just before the game clock stops and the buzzzer sounds.

The most interesting part about Reis’s Buzzer beater is that he shot it from full court.

“I didn’t expect to make that shot. It felt good when I made it though”, says Reis.

Reis also states that luck is probably one of the things that has helped him make that shot. “I believe in luck,” he said, “because I don’t think I could have made that shot without it.”

After being questioned about future games, Reis claimed, “Hopefully I’ll be able to make a shot like that again. I do work really hard at what I do.”
